In February, our FAS team visited 8 farms and twice the cattle market in Lagow. They singed five new contracts with farmers interesting in improving living conditions of their animals. We noticed positive change in attitude of some farmers who were not very cooperative previously. We were convinced they would not be interested in joining our program. However, some of them joined and are even more open to our recommendations now. A good example was the farm in Bieliny. The owner decided to join our program a few months after our last visit. His animals were in good condition but we noticed some neglections. First, he needs to build a dog house. Now, one of the dogs lives in a shed that is used as a garage. There are a lot of different things and equipment inside that can be dangerous for the dog. The farmer admitted that changes are necessary. Another example was the farm in Starachowice. The farmer was very suspicious and distrustful. We were very surprised that he signed the contract and declared to fix all

neglections. He keeps only one mare, but the horse is tied in a box with a window covered with plywood. His first task is to put some light into the stable.

In Debno we saw a different situation. The owner was unhappy about new rules. He did not see any neglections at his farm and he demanded our trimming service anyway. Our team denied and left.

Occasionally, our farriers got emergency calls. This month, a lame horse needed our help. We never refuse in such situations. The farriers found the reason of lameness, a painful spot in the hoof sole. The horse needs to rest for a week or two. We left the owner our new FAS programme so he may consider future cooperation with us.
