Animal Transport Inspections at the Turkish Border
November 22-28, 2023 | Turkey | Kapikule | Animal Transport Inspections at the Turkish Border
Our teams once again conducted inspections of animal transports at the Turkish border in Kapikule. A total of 11 transporters were checked, mainly carrying cattle from Germany, Austria, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
In theory, we should not encounter German cattle here. Most German veterinary authorities do not permit transports to Turkey, and for good reason. We have repeatedly documented days-long waits at this border, during which the animals suffered extreme distress. The German cattle were loaded in Hungary. This time, the legal requirements were adhered to for all transports, and there were no prolonged waiting times.
