In December our FAS Team in Poland visited 15 farms. They trimmed hooves of 14 horses and 1 cow. Trimming mare “Mandaj” was a big challenge. She was bought recently by one of the farmer visited regularly by our team. The mare has neglected hooves and seemed never been trimmed before. Our smiths had to use a rope and noseband to trim her hooves.

Two other horses had also hoof problems: mare with abscess in Lechów and horse with haematoma in Michałowice. Both wounds were cleaned and protected with dressing.

Three horses and one foal were dewormed. Our smiths were called three times because of skin disease. One cow and a horse had scabies so they were treated with medicine.

During visit in Dębniak our team noticed a cow tied by her horns. They put a halter on cow’s head instead. When our team trimmed one of the horses – farmers saw it, asked if they can also put halters on his cows. This was surprising because a farmer asking for halter doesn’t happen often.

The farm in Grzegorzowice is under our constant supervision. The manure was removed from the barn but now it is remaining at the yard. Unfortunately the temperature dropped and manure has frozen so it’s hard to remove it. It might stay like this till early spring.

Michal & Bogdan visited also the cattle market in Łagów. It’s smaller market than in Bodzentyn and observed animals were generally in okay condition. They’ve seen only a few emaciated cows with overgrown hooves. The Trader Ogonek left his cows at the market as usual. The team visited also the horse market in Zwoleń. When they arrived there were only 30 horses, mostly in good condition. We need to go there once again a bit earlier.
