We are driving to the east of the region to join the other half of ITD Krakow Inspectors for a practical training in animal transport checks. Just like yesterday, only one transport is stopped, but it gives good education opportunities. The inspectors spotted very quickly that a divider was not installed on the lower floor. Moreover, the truck of just 5.80m length carried 60 pigs on 2 decks! The upper floor had only 20 pigs loaded, and remaining 40 were squeezed on 13m² of the bottom floor. Using formulas from our brochure, the inspectors calculated loading density, even though the overloading was clearly visible. According to the Regulation (EC) No 1/2005, the maximum number of pigs per floor of this truck should be 32, and not 40! The driver was fined for both infringements.
