We are driving to the east of the region to join the other half of ITD Krakow Inspectors for a practical training in animal transport checks. Just like yesterday, only one transport is stopped, but it gives good education opportunities. The inspectors spotted very quickly that a divider was not installed on the lower floor. Moreover, the truck of just 5.80m length carried 60 pigs on 2 decks! The upper floor had only 20 pigs loaded, and remaining 40 were squeezed on 13m2 of the bottom floor. Using formulas from our brochure, the inspectors calculated loading density, even though the overloading was clearly visible. According to the Regulation (EC) No 1/2005, the maximum number of pigs per floor of this truck should be 32, and not 40! The driver was fined for both infringements.
